There is an abundance of sloes in the hedgerows now – I’ve always fancied making something other than sloe gin it’s quite easy all you need for sloe jelly are sloes, apples, lemons and sugar…….could be a nice Christmas present?
Freeze all your sloes for a few days – then they’re ready to use, you don’t need to prick them…

Just had a big dollop with a lovely fresh roast chicken from the market, delicious. It’s great with any roasted meat, especially roast pork, and can be added to almost any sauce. Really piquant taste with a sweetness to it. Try it!
